Haters in copyright

High profile copyright infringements in popular music continue as Taylor Swift is in the firing line, once again. She was recently a target for another copyright infringement claim relating to the lyrics contained in mega-hit ‘Shake it off’.

Not only is this not the first time Swift has had to defend copyright infringement allegations in respect of the song, but the specific lyrics in dispute have actually been defended before. In 2015, California songwriter Jessie Braham attempted to sue Swift for alleged copyright infringement of his 2013 single ‘Haters Gone Hate’ seeking royalties of $42m. The case – “shaken off”.
