CFC, the specialist insurance provider, pioneer in emerging risk and market leader in cyber, today announced the expansion of its Australian-based dedicated cyber team with the appointment of Michael Lewis.
Lewis will be taking up his new role at CFC in January 2025 and joins from Emergence Insurance where he was business development underwriter for two years. He will be based in CFC’s office in Melbourne.
Mike’s appointment marks an important step forward for our Australian cyber team. While we’ve had an incident response team on the Gold Coast for the several years now, Mike will be our first-ever dedicated cyber business development resource hired locally. Lindsey Nelson, Head of Cyber Development at CFC
“His exceptional relationships, development skills and extensive knowledge of the cyber market make him ideally placed to help deepen and diversify our broker partnerships across the country.”
Nelson continues: “We recognise that many Australian businesses do not have insurance protection against cyber attacks, which is all the more worrying given the significant and pervasive cyber risk. To address that glaring gap, we’re on a mission to ensure that every Australian broker has access to our award-winning cyber cover and Mike is going to play a crucial role in helping us achieve this ambition.”
Through delivering in-person education and training, a key element of Lewis’s role will be in helping brokers increase their cyber knowledge and confidence and, in turn, improve their cyber conversion and growth targets across their commercial portfolios.
In addition to taking on responsibility for managing key accounts, Lewis will also act as the dedicated cyber point of contact for brokers in Australia.
Commenting on his new role, Lewis said: “CFC has blazed a trail in the global cyber market, being the first to develop an in-house cyber threat monitoring and alerts capability for policyholders as well as its own in-house 24/7 cyber incident response team. This has made them one of the most established and experienced providers in the market. I’m truly excited to join the team and relish the challenge of helping Australian brokers become cyber specialists and working together to close the protection gap.”
