CFC, the specialist insurance provider, pioneer in emerging risk and market leader in cyber, today announced the expansion of its corporate cyber proposition with the launch of a team dedicated to serving brokers across the continent of Europe.

“CFC’s corporate cyber team have been successfully writing large primary cyber risk for European brokers and their clients from our London headquarters for more than a decade, and our in-house claims team has extensive experience in handling large losses for these corporate clients,” said Andrew Prendergast, CFC’s Corporate Cyber Practice Leader.

However, as the market continues to grow and the risks to clients from threat actors become ever more complex, we felt it was the right time to bring our cyber expertise closer to our European partners. Establishing a team with local market knowledge and solutions in local language will allow us to help more brokers deliver complex cyber solutions that meet their clients growing needs.

With European offices currently in Brussels and Madrid and further offices scheduled to open by the end of the year, CFC has hired Ilaria Silvato as Corporate Cyber & Tech EMEA Team Leader to build the European based team and drive the growth of CFC’s corporate cyber business. With an insurance career spanning the past 13 years, Ilaria joins the team from Beazley where she spent the past four years as international underwriting manager for cyber risks.

Prendergast continues: “Ilaria has a wealth of knowledge, having started her career as a lawyer before moving into claims, and then transitioning into underwriting. Her experience means she has a depth of understanding of the insurance cycle and is sympathetic to client requirements and the needs of insurers. I can’t think of a better person to spearhead the growth of our European based corporate cyber team.”

A fluent Italian, Spanish and English speaker, Ilaria will be based in Spain but will be working with clients across Europe to provide CFC’s proactive cyber solution on a primary basis as well as building out a team to support and service CFC’s growing number of European broker partners.

Commenting on her new role at CFC, Ilaria said: “I am truly thrilled to be a part of this exciting new chapter for CFC. The business has blazed a trail in the cyber market and has a reputation for service and innovation that is second to none. Building a European based team that has a broad appetite across many industry sectors and a willingness to consider distressed risks demonstrates CFC’s commitment to serving its European broker partners and their clients.”
